Heaton Park

Midweek action this week included Steven Lenihan running 10 miles in Heaton Park in Run Through’s “Chase the Sun” multi distance event.

Lyme Park Midsummer Trail

At Lyme Park on Wednesday for the 10k trail run Yvonne Booth was the first Ram home ahead of Sandra Powers, Lianne Troughton, Andrea Sidebottom, Eve Hart, Connor Barrett, Gina Jackson, Jane Emanuel and Clare Waterfall-Hallam.

They had to contend with heat, hills and hold ups but all seemed to enjoy the event immensely and the organisers have promised to iron out the issues that caused long queues at stiles before next year’s race.

Aggie’s Staircase

Regular fell runners Richard Jones, Peter Taylor and Kieran Myles discovered the joys of the Aggie’s Staircase race in Darwen. Yet another tough little moorland trail up and around Darwen Moor.

This one was put on by Darwen Dashers who do a few similar races. Next up being the Tockholes Fell Race on 7th July at 7:15pm.

Stocksport 5k

Kayleigh Hadfield was the sole Ram at the Stocksport Running Festival 5k over mixed terrain from Stockport town centre through Vernon and Woodbank Park.

Round Sheffield Run

Jane Emanuel followed up Wednesday’s hilly trail adventure with the 24k Round Sheffield Run. A lap of the city with 600m of climbing amking the most of the city's trails and parks. This race can definitley be non competitive if you choose with a pizza oven and beer tent amongst the attractions.

parkrun

16 different parkruns hosted 48 RRC'ers this weekend:

11 Rams headed for Heaton parkrun: Alexander Shield, Jo Wainwright, Eve Hart, Mark Wainwright, Sarah McGrath, Lianne Troughton, Cathryn Gawthorpe, Adrian Campbell, Vanessa Lobb, Amy Ardill and Dave Carroll. 

Bolton was the second most popular choice this weekend with eight Rams heading for Leverhulme Park: Colin Olajide, Abbie Gregson, Nidya Arunkumar, Charlotte Cummings, Rosie Cummings, Mark Wolfenden, Andrew Hill and Paula Pilling.

We had tourists in Sheffield with Paul Jenkins at Hillsborough Park and Paula Jones at Millhouses, Andrea Sidebottom and Sandra Powers headed for Ruthin, Ben Knight and Steven Yates were at Conyngham Hall in Yorkshire, Jeanelle De Gruchy went to Fletcher Moss, Chris Swainson visited Clarisford, Sacha Cooper made her way to Wilmslow, Adam Bolton was at Watergrove, Andrew Patterson chose Monsal Trail and Alan Blagburn took on Rother Valley parkrun.

Burnley was the parkrun of choice for Karen Leach, Sarah Sutcliffe, Emma Stacey, Lee Ford and Helen McVey.

Neil Wharmby, David Rudman and Ken Swarbrick were at our anytime club championships run at Burnage and Steve Hamer, Richard Hanson and Adrian Booth took on Pendle parkrun.

Some notable parkrun performances included RRC251 Torin Bones who smashed his PB by almost 2 minutes and Paula Pilling who was first lady at Bolton where Andrew Hill also beat his personal best time. Amy Ardill set herself a new course PB at Heaton parkrun.
