Two week roundup: to week ending 30th October 2022
parkrun
RRC was represented at 22 different events last week and 24 events this week just gone. The undoubted champion tourist over both weeks was Torin Bones who was first finisher at Lews Castle in Stornoway.
A very close second was Eve Hart, first female with extra responsibility for getting Torin up and out on the local bus to the start.
Other long-distance tourists included Andrew Hill in Horsham, Jo and Mark Wainwright in Wolverhampton at East Park and Ali McArthur at Maryport.
parkrun is a great way to measure your personal progress, regardless of how others do, and regular runner Sacha Cooper achieved her highest ever age graded score at Stretford - maturing like a fine wine!
Notable performances from last week include Paul Marshall with 19:16 at Sherwood Pines and Karen Rothwell who was just 8 seconds away from a parkrun PB at Stretford.
There was a strong Ram presence at our anytime Club Champs event at Pendle parkrun on the final Saturday of October with Paul Jenkins, Karen Rothwell, Neil Rothwell, Lee Ford, Diane Ford, Julia Martin and Andrea Sidebottom all adding to their tally.
David Ardill reached his 100th parkrun milestone, accompanied for a parkwalk around a soggy Bolton by wife Fran, daughter Amelie and brother Rowan!
Gin Pit 5 Mile Trail Race
The latest club championships race was the now familiar country park trail race near Astley Village. It was a suitably wet morning for the 17 Rams who took part.
There’s always a bit of mud to contend with on this one but Sunday was a particularly soggy one even for this race.
We had an age grade win for Vanessa Lobb and only narrowly missed out on the male team prize to Burnden Road Runners. The fact that James Thomas was casually chatting to one of their team as they crossed the line had nothing at all to do with this!
Abingdon Marathon
Sacha Cooper’s love/hate relationship with marathon running was fully expressed at Abingdon where she also enjoyed some changeable weather on the way to her latest achievement.
Last week a few Rams joined Colin Olajid on the Sunnywood Project’s non-competitive hike run around the Village Link footpaths around rural North Bury.
Our Sunday morning Ramsbottom Re Connect sessions continued this week at Jumbles with another brilliant turnout.
Keep an eye on club Facebook for details of how to join next week’s welcoming social trail run for all abilities.
